The Best Vegetarian Restaurants at Disney World, According to an Expert

by | Jul 3, 2024 | Dining, Walt Disney World

Looking for Disney World restaurants that’ll satisfy the vegetarians in your family? These are my favorite veg-friendly places to dine.

Finding a restaurant that’ll please the entire family (including infants, picky eaters, and those with big appetites) can be one of the biggest challenges of any Disney World trip. And if you have certain dietary preferences, like being vegetarian or vegan, adding that into the mix can complicate your restaurant choices even further.

As a longtime vegetarian, I’ve seen firsthand how Disney World has enhanced its offerings for vegetarians, vegans, and those looking to add more plant-based foods to their diet. My family and I have discovered various vegetarian options that we enjoy at both Disney Resort restaurants and the theme parks.

Below, I’m sharing my picks for the best vegetarian restaurants across Disney World.

Best Vegetarian Restaurants at Disney World Resorts

Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge

You may have heard about Sanaa’s renowned bread service, but if you haven’t had the chance to dine at this exceptional restaurant, you’re missing out! The Zanaibari Vegetable Curry is a must-try. It’s a dish that’s bursting with flavor and cultural authenticity.

While Sanaa may not be the best choice for a picky eater, every restaurant in Disney World has options to cater to various food preferences.

Sebastian’s at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

This restaurant is a hidden gem within Disney World, and you can easily access Caribbean Beach Resort via the Skyliner, which adds to its appeal. It’s a convenient option if you plan to visit EPCOT or Hollywood Studios during your trip.

I have to admit, I was hesitant to book a reservation at Sebastian’s at first. It is a dinner-only restaurant with a prix-fixe menu and a plant-based substitute, which my family chose. It’s known for its BBQ-style, meat-heavy plates, so I wasn’t sure how good the plant-based option would be. I considered canceling this reservation, but I’m so glad I didn’t! It was fantastic, and the plant-based substitute dish was one of my favorite Disney World meals.

Animal Kingdom

I love Tusker House at Animal Kingdom for a vegetarian meal. This buffet-style restaurant has many plant-based offerings and a diverse mix of foods for more adventurous palettes.

Disney World’s buffets are an excellent choice for vegetarians since you’ll always find a more extensive section of food options. Another perk of dining at Tusker House? You’ll get to meet Donald Duck and friends. It’s a vegetarian and kid-approved place to dine! If you are not feeling a buffet-style meal,

Yak and Yeti is another fantastic option for vegetarians and would be my top recommendation if you’re looking for a sit-down, table-service meal. The vegetable Lo Mein is delicious!

EPCOT

This opinion may be controversial because EPCOT has the best dining options of the four Disney World Parks and many fabulous restaurants.  Still, I am a massive fan of the festival booth food options as a vegetarian. Having attended every EPCOT festival (Food and Wine is my favorite), I prefer to dine at the different booths throughout the day and evening instead of a sit-down restaurant or quick service. A trashcan table is always available to eat once you’ve picked up your dish (If you know, you know!)

The festival booths offer various plant-based options, and the food booths provide the most variety. The best part is you can try many different things instead of just having one meal at a restaurant.

If you don’t want to visit the festival booths – or you’re looking for something more formal, meal-wise – EPCOT is home to so many fantastic restaurant options, it’s actually difficult to choose the best vegetarian option. However, one of my top picks is Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria, which has incredible Italian food and pizza.

Another veg-friendly favorite of mine is San Angel Inn Restaurante in the Mexico Pavilion. The experience is worth it, as it’s such a unique dining atmosphere.

Hollywood Studios

Honestly, Hollywood Studios is my least favorite park when it comes to vegetarian restaurants and dining in general. However, this theme park offers a silver lining for vegetarians: Roundup Rodeo BBQ. You would think a BBQ restaurant wouldn’t be vegetarian-friendly, but Trixie’s Plant-Based Trio is a standout options. Like Sebastian’s plant-based family plate, this restaurant has such a fun vibe. And if you’re dining with children, this restaurant is sure to be a hit!

Another worthy mention is Hollywood & Vine. I know it’s another buffet, but a buffet is always a win for vegetarians, in my opinion.

Magic Kingdom

My favorite vegetarian restaurant in Magic Kingdom is Tony’s Town Square Restaurant. I know most people are not overly excited about this choice. The menu here has undergone some recent enhancements, so it’s worth a second chance (if you’ve been before and are hesitant to try again.) You will enjoy all the pasta dishes you have been craving. Tony’s garlic Bread is a must and will feed your whole table.

Crystal Palace is also an excellent option, and it’s another buffet-style restaurant, but as a vegetarian, you can always find great food choices at a buffet; I am a massive fan of the buffets Disney has to offer.

How to Find Vegetarian Options Across Disney World

Worried you won’t find a vegetarian option on the menu where you’re dining at Disney World? Good news: Almost every restaurant at the park and resort offers a vegetarian or plant-based option.

Disney excels in providing plant-based foods, so you can dine at any restaurant that catches your eye, whether you follow a vegetarian or plant-based diet. You can enjoy fantastic meals wherever you eat during your Disney World vacation!
