Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows are the newest, and most anticipated, addition to the Disney Vacation Club Resorts. It’s also one of the most expensive. Why? A little slice of Bora Bora with a view of the Magic Kingdom is all yours when you stay there. Uncle Walt’s dream of an island paradise has finally come true.
Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows
The Polynesian Villas and Bungalows officially opened on April 1, 2015. This part of the Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort fills in a large portion of the beach area. There are 20 Bora Bora Bungalows, each of which sleeps 8. Guests must check in at the Great Ceremonial House of the Disney Polynesian Resort.
All of the Bungalows have a view of the Seven Seas Lagoon and the Magic Kingdom.
Polynesian Bungalows
The two-bedroom Bungalows are unmatched by any other Disney Resort accommodations on property. They are the only rooms situated over the water. You even have to take a wooden bridge to get to them, just as though you were in a real island paradise!
Two-Bedroom Bungalow – This exotic getaway is perfect for a large family, two families, or a bunch of friends. It sleeps up to eight guests and includes a full kitchen. There is plenty of exotic décor throughout mixed with a contemporary flair. Each unit also has a washer and dryer and two bathrooms. Want a whirlpool tub? You got it!
The best part of the Bungalow is the private deck from which you can watch Wishes or the wonderful Electrical Water Pageant on the Seven Seas Lagoon.
Worried that it won’t have the same ambiance as being in the park? No problem, they included private speakers that play the accompanying music. Yes, they truly thought of everything.
Each private deck even includes your own plunge pool. Yes, a small pool just for you.
Here’s the breakdown on some of the wonderful amenities included when you stay in a Bungalow at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort:
- One king-size bed in the master bedroom
- One queen-size bed and 1 pull-down bunk-size bed in the second bedroom
- One queen-size sleeper sofa and 1 pull-down bunk-size bed in the living room
- In-mirror TV (in the master bathroom)
- A walk-in shower with rain shower-head (in the master bathroom)
- Flat panel TV in both bedrooms and the living room
- Stacked washer and dryer
- Full kitchen with serving dishes, silverware, etc.
Disney Vacation Club members only get Mousekeeping services 2 days a week. One day for a full cleaning and one day for trash service and light cleaning. (Extra services are available for an additional charge.) If you rent the room from Disney, you will get daily Mousekeeping.
Polynesian Villas – Deluxe Studios
Deluxe Studios – the Tahiti, Rapa Nui, and Tokelau Longhouses have been remodeled into Deluxe Studio Villas. In fact, the Tahiti and Rapa Nui will revert back to their original names (Moorea and Pago Pago.)
The Deluxe Studios at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows are the largest on the property at approximately 447 sq. ft. and can sleep up to 5 guests. For comparison, the Studios at the Old Key West (the largest at WDW) are 390 sq. ft.
Each room contains artwork inspired by Mary Blair (Disney Legend). The studio has one queen-size bed, a queen-size sleep sofa, and a pull-down bunk-size bed.

- Wireless Internet
- Split bathroom with full-size tub and walk-in shower
- Flat-panel TV in the bedroom/living area

Points and Prices
Now for the bad news. Disney is really proud of the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows. Really proud. The point chart for the Deluxe Villas in 2015 shows a Standard View room for a week during “Adventure”Season would “cost” 118 points. For a comparison, a Standard View Deluxe Villa room at the Animal Kingdom Lodge would “cost” 81 points.
But the real show stopper is the “cost” of the Bungalows. A Bungalow “costs” 115 points per NIGHT at it’s lowest. For a week in Adventure season it’s 841 points. Renting a Bungalow will set you back at least $2,100 per night.
The Disney Vacation Club
The Disney Vacation Club is the timeshare arm of the Disney Company. Yes, timeshare. You can prepay for your Disney World vacations by investing in the Disney Vacation Club (no, I’m not quoting a brochure). Disney will even buy your timeshare points back (Disney uses a point system) for the going rate.
Disney has been expanding vacation club resorts at a remarkable rate over the last few years. The newest editions are the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows, which opened in the spring of 2015 and the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, which opened in the fall of 2013.
Entertainment
The Polynesian Villas and Bungalows share services with Disney’s Polynesian Resort where there’s a spectacular variety of entertainment and food options. Some of the newest additions include Pineapple Lanai (where you can enjoy the famous Dole Whip) and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto (where you can enjoy tropical libations). Grab a bite to eat at ‘Ohana, Kona Cafe, or attend the luau dinner show Spirit of Aloha.

There are a couple of ways to get a reservation for Polynesian Villas and Bungalows. First, you can buy Disney Vacation Club points. Second, you can “rent” points from a Disney Vacation Club member.
