The Disney Dream cruise ship is the third ship built by the Disney Cruise Line. It is currently on 3, 4, or 5-night sailings to the Bahamas departing out of Port Canaveral. The Dream has 14 decks, with 1,250 staterooms that can accommodate 4,000 passengers plus 1,458 Crew Members.
The entire Disney Cruise Line (including The Magic, The Wonder, The Dream and The Fantasy) was designed with families in mind, including top of the line dining, entertainment, children’s programs, and amenities – all with the signature Disney flair for family fun.
Disney Dream
The Disney Dream set sail in 2011 and was honored shortly thereafter with a slew of awards (including “Best New Ship” and “Best Inside Cabins” from Cruise Critic’s Editor’s Pick Awards). Its sister ship, The Disney Fantasy, will set sail in 2012.
Deck Plans
The Disney Dream cruise ship has 12 decks with staterooms, entertainment, dining and more. Each deck is a little different. Here’s a list of what’s on each deck:

The Staterooms
The Disney Dream has state rooms for every travel style and family need. From inside cabins with innovative “virtual portholes” to outside cabins to deluxe suites with private verandahs and concierge service, you’re sure to find a room that fits your family and your budget. In keeping with the design of The Disney Cruise Line, staterooms on The Disney Dream are larger than industry standard and have been created with families in mind, featuring ample space and (in most cases) split bathrooms.
Dining
The Disney Dream cruise ship, like all the Disney Cruise Line ships has 3 main dining rooms. Unlike standard cruise ships, these dining rooms are all very different and guests have a chance to experience all 3. During the day you can get standard food at 2 of the restaurants, but in the evening, the magic comes alive.
- Enchanted Garden – serves breakfast and lunch. At Dinner, guests of all ages will experience a seasonally prepared 4 course feast. The décor is inspired by the gardens of Versailles, and the setting magically transforms from day to night before your eyes!
- Royal Palace – serves breakfast and lunch. Dinner features French-inspired continental cuisine. This restaurant places you right in the middle of a Disney fairytale, complete with luxurious chandeliers, roses, and glass slippers.
- Animator’s Palate – serves Pacific Rim and American cuisine for dinner in the setting of an animators studio – that comes to life when the meal begins, engaging guests in an interactive dinner show!
Other Dining
The Disney Dream cruise ship has several restaurants where you can grab a bite without having to dress up or even sit down.
- Flo’s Café
- Eye-Scream, Frozone Treats
- Cabanas – casual dining with made-to-order breakfast and lunch, and table-service dinner
For Adults Only
Sometimes you just have to get away from the kids. On the Disney Dream cruise ship, you can choose from 2 restaurants, and entertainment district, and a pool.
Palo
Palo is an adults-only, upscale restaurant that has out-of-this-world food and service. Palo features Northern Italian cuisine served in an elegant, and romantic, dining experience. Palo is has a great outside view. You can watch the world go by as you enjoy some mind-blowing Italian food for brunch or dinner. Palo requires reservations and fills up fast. You will also have to pay a $20 surcharge for dining.
Remy
Remy is a luxurious restaurant offering the most exclusive and romantic dining experience on The Disney Dream. Before your leisurely meal of French cuisine (complete with a complimentary champagne cocktail), you’ll be invited to meet with a sommelier to pick your wine for the evening (for an extra charge). Remy also offers private dining experiences for those extra-special occasions. Remy requires reservations and fills up fast. You will also have to pay a $75.00 surcharge for dining.
Entertainment
Disney has great entertainment, bringing its best out to sea with it. On your cruise you can experience first run movies, award-winning live musical extravaganzas, character greetings, and much more. During the day, there are programs for kids of all ages. Adults can even grab some alone time while Disney takes care of the kids.
The Disney Dream features not one but two theatres: The Walt Disney Theatre (where lavish live performances are on stage nightly) and the Buena Vista Theatre (an upscale cinema with first-run movies, comfy seats, and all the latest technologies).
Oh, yeah, I almost forgot: there are pools for adults, teens, and little ones, and there is one for the whole family. You can get pampered at Senses Spa and Salon, or if you need some exercise, you can go to the huge fitness center or walk a mile around the deck. Goofy’s Sports Deck features basketball, volleyball, mini golf, and sports simulators. There is something for everyone.
The Theaters
There are two main theaters on the Dream. The Buena Vista Theater is where you can see first run Disney movies complete with 3-D projection, Dolby sound, plush stadium seats and a huge screen. The Walt Disney Theater is where the live-action musicals are performed every night. The current musicals are –
- Golden Mickeys – singing and dancing starring several classic characters
- The Little Mermaid – an award-winning rendition taken from the movie
- Villians Tonight – Disney Villans in a way you’ve never seen them before
Youth Clubs
When Disney started the Disney Cruise Line, they wanted to target the family market. (Duh.) They designed ships with large areas with children in mind. They wanted to create an environment where the children would have a place to have fun and parents would feel safe in leaving them. They have areas for all ages. Here are the different areas designed just for kids –
- It’s a Small World Nursery – for children 3 months to 3 years (additional charge)
- Disney’s Oceaneer Club – kids dress up as hero’s and princesses or play computer games or any of a wide variety of supervised activities. Ages 3-12
- Disney’s Oceaneer Lab – play and learn with themed activities and games. Ages 3-12
- Edge – a space exclusive for tweens 11 – 13 to watch tv, listen to music, surf the net, play video games, and more
- Vibe – a hotspot for teens 14-17 to watch tv, listen to music, surf the net, play video games, and more
- D Lounge – a family club and lounge where you can sing, dance, play games, and enjoy live entertainment
- Arr-cade – featuring the newest video games
The District
This section of the ship is the hotspot for adults in the evening, featuring a variety of lounges for every taste.
- Evolution – a butterfly themed dance club and karaoke bar
- Pink – an elegant nightclub designed to look like the inside of a champagne bottle
- Skyline – a cosmopolitan cocktail bar with magically transforming views of cities from around the world
- 687 – a contemporary sports bar
Pools
The Disney Dream features 2 pools, a splash area, and a water coaster for families to enjoy.
- Mickey’s Pool – a 2-foot deep children’s pool with a twisting 1-deck slide.
- Donald’s Pool – a 5-foot deep family pool featuring views of the AquaDuck, a jumbo screen television, and activities throughout the day.
- Nemo’s Reef – a water play area for the little ones to splash around in
- AquaDuck – a 765-foot water coaster that takes you over the side of the ship, and through the Forward Funnel on it’s journey over 4 decks.
Quiet Cove Pool
A relaxing 4-foot deep pool for adults to relax in, featuring a connecting bar.
The Cruise
The Dream leaves on 3 and 4 night trips out of Port Canaveral most Sundays and Thursdays. The itinerary is pretty simple. Depart Port Canaveral, cruise to Nassau Bahamas, go to Castaway Cay then back to Port Canaveral. The only difference between the 2 itineraries is the 4 day goes in circles for an entire day.
