The first phase of The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort have officially opened. It was previously announced that The Cabins would be getting a makeover, with the newly redesigned accommodations reopened as the seventeenth Disney Vacation Club property. And on July 1, 2024, the first phase of the new cabins opened to guests.
Fort Wilderness Cabins
The newly redesigned Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort are the 17th Disney Vacation Club property, and will continue to open in phases throughout 2024. In total, there will be 350 new cabins upon completion. Designed to sleep up to six guests (with some dog-friendly cabins available!) the new cabins are designed with rustic detailing, and plenty of Disney magic. Each cabin comes with a main bedroom, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, living area, dining area, and outdoor patio.
Fort Wilderness Cabin Tour
We were given the opportunity to tour one of these beautiful new cabins, and we’re taking you along with us for a full tour of exactly what you can expect!
Living Area and Kitchen
Heading up the stairas to the cabin, you’ll find yourself on a gorgeous outdoor porch with a table and chairs. This is the perfect spot to sit out and enjoy the relaxing nature surrounding you, or to grab some dinner and enjoy a meal outside with your family.
The area sits up against the full floor-to-ceiling windows of the cabin, which can be left open or covered for privacy with a large curtain (depicting Chip ‘n’ Dale, of course). Heading inside, there’s a fully equipped kitchen as well as a living area.
As a Disney Vacation Club property, you’ll find all the dining amenitites you need like a coffee maker, plates, utensils, and cookware. It is supposed to feel like home away from home, after all! The kitchen also comes with a dishwasher, full-size oven and stove, full-size refrigerator. The dining area also has a table and chairs, so you can eat your meals inside or out. In the living area you’ll find a television, couch, and seating area attached to the kitchen. Plus, there’s a murphy bed that pulls down over the couch, so you can sleep up to two more people.
Bedroom and Bathroom
Heading into the bedroom, you’ll find a queen-sized bed along with bunk beds, sleeping up to four in the room. There’s a television, hanging space, and dresser drawers for all of your storage needs. For more storage, there are more drawers located at the bottom of the bunk beds.
Finally, there’s the bathroom and vanities. Outside the door to the bathroom is a sink and mirror so that multiple parties can get ready at the same time. Inside the bathroom there’s a walk-in shower, toilet, vanity, and cabinets with an ironing board, drawers, and more space.
Of course, you’ll also find plenty of details throughout the cabin with nods to the history of Fort Wilderness. Whether that’s the opening date (November 19, found in the artwork of the bunk beds), or nods to River Country in the artwork, the Fort Wilderness Cabins blend a new look with the rustic charm and history of the resort.
Thank you to Disney for hosting us during the DVC Cabins at Fort Wilderness media event including a preview of the new cabins, a tour of Tri-Circle D Ranch Stable, a Fishing Excursion on Bay Lake, and a Golf Cart rental.
