If you’ve always wanted to step inside the iconic Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant, which was once located on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. Long since shuttered, the only recreation you can still visit? Well, it’s located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Here, you’ll find Disney’s version of the original, with touches that nod to Hollywood’s Golden Age. Decorated with caricatures of famous faces on the wall and serving up Cobb Salad (which was invented at the first Brown Derby restaurant), it’s so authentic that this spot is even licensed by the group that created the original.

The Hollywood Brown Derby is one of Disney World’s Fine/Signature Dining restaurants, which means it’s a step above most of your typical table-service restaurants. Meals are more expensive here, and the atmosphere is more elevated. But if you’re looking for an Old Hollywood experience, this is where you’ll find it.

The Hollywood Brown Derby Location

It’s easy to find the Hollywood Brown Derby; it sits on Hollywood Boulevard. The restaurant is located between the Animation Courtyard and Sunset Boulevard

The Hollywood Brown Derby Menu

You can enjoy lunch or dinner at the Hollywood Brown Derby, and no matter which time of day you dine, you’ll find a menu filled with California-inspired fare. All of the food resembles what was on the menu at the original chain, meaning there are Cobb Salads as well as staples like Shrimp Cocktail and Filet Mignon.

Disney Dining Plan

The Hollywood Brown Derby does accept the Disney Dining Plan – but not the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan.

Because the Hollywood Brown Derby is a Fine/Signature Dining restaurant, it does cost more than most table-service restaurants on the Disney Dining Plan. It’ll cost you two table-service meal credits per person.

Advance Dining Reservations

You will need an advance dining reservation (ADR) if you’re hoping to dine at the Hollywood Brown Derby. Like all table-service restaurants, it’s highly recommended that you make an ADR before your visit.

While this restaurant isn’t one of the hottest tickets in Disney World, reservation availability does vary. It’s popular, so reservations can disappear fast during the busiest time of the year. However, during slow seasons, you may find a few ADRs available even on the day of your visit.

Is The Hollywood Brown Derby Kid-Friendly?

Disney World’s Fine/Signature Dining restaurants do welcome kids of all ages with open arms (it is Disney World, after all!), but they may not be the most kid-friendly choices. After all, these restaurants offer more elevated menus, with adult-leaning fare, and the dining room environments aren’t exactly tailored to children.

If you’re looking for a special or quieter meal experience, the Hollywood Brown Derby may be a good fit for your family. Or, if you have older kids who have no problem hanging out quietly during more “adult” meals, this restaurant shouldn’t be a problem. However, more active or wiggly kids may not enjoy eating here.

Additionally, the menu doesn’t cater to picky eaters. Sure, there are a couple of options that pickier little ones will like – namely, macaroni and cheese and a hot dog – but that’s really it.
