Is there a more fitting spot to dine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios than Backlot Express, a restaurant that’s designed to feel like you’re backstage with production on a film or TV set? Featuring chain-link cages filled with movie props and a sizable warehouse and paint shop filled with tools, the theming here offers plenty for guests to see while waiting or dining.

This quick-service spot offers plenty of outdoor seating space, make it a great place to take a break or dine in between activities or attractions. Plus, with options for both adventurous and picky eaters, it’ll cater to a wide range of different tastes.

Backlot Express Location

Disney Dining Plan

ABC Commissary does participate in the Disney Dining Plan, and you can use credits from either the Disney Dining Plan or Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan here. Order an entrée for kids or adults, and it’ll cost you one quick-service meal credit per person.

You may also be able to use Disney Dining Plan snack credits here on some of the limited-time offerings available throughout the year. Just double-check the menus and look for the Disney Dining Plan icon to determine what’s eligible for your credits.

Advance Dining Reservations

Backlot Express, like all Disney World quick-service restaurants, doesn’t offer advance dining reservations (ADRs). You’ll want to time your visit around popular mealtimes like the lunch and dinner rushes to avoid a long wait here.

However, keep in mind that you can use Mobile Order at this quick-service restaurant. If you’re looking to dine without waiting in a physical line, you can use this My Disney Experience app feature to schedule a food pick-up time and find other ways to entertain the family until it’s time to eat.

Is Backlot Express Kid-Friendly?

With ample seating and space for kids to relax, get the wiggles out, and enjoy a meal, Backlot Express is a great option for families. We particularly love it for kids because the menu is simple, straightforward, and full of crowd-pleasing options. It may not wow adults, but the food and the atmosphere here cater to noisy kids and picky eaters alike.

Have more adventurous eaters or kids who love special themed treats with you? Backlot Express also offers some more “inspired” cuisine, like the kids’ Teriyaki Tofu Bowl or Cuban Sandwiches for adults. Plus, the menu often features some limited-time offerings, like themed sippers (the BB-8 Droid Sipper for summer 2024, for example) and specialty treats (like the Star Wars inspired Wookiee Cookie.)
